Zero shame coaching
Direct, science based support with no judgment. You are allowed to be a work in progress.
Russell’s path into fitness didn’t start with a six pack. It started with people.
Born in Danbury, Connecticut and shaped by years in New York City, Russell built his
career at the intersection of performance, psychology, and real life. He began
teaching indoor cycling in NYC in 2008, quickly earning recognition for his ability
to coach with precision, empathy, and intensity. That talent led him to Equinox
Fitness, where he spent over a decade as a personal trainer, group fitness leader,
and later a Master Educator, mentoring instructors and raising the bar for what
great coaching actually looks like. Becoming a Master Educator for Stages Indoor
Cycling, he was able to refine his educational skills so he could uplevel and expand
the tool box of group fitness instructors across the country.
In 2022, Russell launched Stathom Fitness, an online coaching company built
specifically for gay men who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, burnout, and failed
weight loss attempts. Drawing from nearly two decades in the fitness industry and
his own lived experience, he created The Modified Macro Method, a sustainable
approach to fat loss that prioritizes nervous system regulation, confidence, and
consistency over restriction and punishment.
Today, Russell coaches clients around the world while living in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC,
training at Mid City Gym, and sharing life with his husband, Alper. When he’s not
coaching, you’ll find him on two wheels outdoors, refining programs, or hanging with
their American Bulldog.
If you’re tired of doing “everything right” and still feeling stuck, Russell is the
coach who understands why and knows exactly how to help.
